I am researching the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) amongst young people in Wales. I will also look at which interventions are most effective in helping those who have experienced adversity and protecting them from the long-term effects of ACEs. Young people with lived experience will be actively involved in coproducing this research.
I have published a systematic review of interventions to address trauma:
Avery F, Kennedy N, James M, Jones H, Amos R, et al. (2024) A systematic review of non-clinician trauma-based interventions for school-age youth. PLOS ONE 19(9): e0293248. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0293248
I am currently working on a pilot trial of the EASE intervention in Welsh primary schools.
