Understanding Divergent Perspectives Associated with Species Re-introductions in the UK

My PhD research investigates the divergent social perspectives surrounding species reintroductions in the UK, examining drivers of these differences and their implications for both reintroduction success and broader conservation outcomes. I focus on how these perspectives interact with stakeholder conflicts, aiming to identify cases where reintroduction processes have either strengthened or strained stakeholder relationships.

The research builds on my undergraduate thesis 'Assessing Social Dimensions of a Lynx Reintroduction in the UK', as well as practical experience working within the field of human-elephant conflict and coexistence in Botswana. My overarching aim is to contribute insights that inform strategies fostering coexistence - supporting both wildlife and the people who live alongside them.
