Preventing homelessness at the intersection of hostile policies: the experiences of refugees in Wales

I am in the final year of my PhD research in the School of Geography and Planning, funded by the ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership (2022). Working in partnership with community organisations and a local authority team, my research aims to better understand how refugees experience homelessness and housing policy in Wales.

I take an approach to housing and homelessness research and advocacy that aims to understand how systems are working through the experiences of people. This is underpinned by the importance of ongoing engagement and collaboration with people who have lived (and living) expertise. I use a range of qualitative and participatory methods across my work.

Research interests:

  • Homelessness
  • Housing justice
  • Asylum and refugee policy
  • Community responses to homelessness
  • Participatory research
  • Institutional ethnography
