Visual Activism and Amnesty International: Photography, Transnational Networks, and the Anti-Apartheid Movement, 1961-90
My thesis significantly contributes to the understanding of Amnesty International's strategic use of photographs in activism efforts. It sheds light on how images were strategically employed to challenge state authority and champion human rights, particularly in the context of its anti-apartheid campaigns in South Africa from 1961 to 1990.
